Convert text to Base64 and back. Unicode-safe, with a one-click swap between encode and decode.
Plain text
Base64
What this does
Encode plain text into Base64, or decode Base64 back into readable text. The conversion is fully Unicode-aware, so emoji and accented characters survive the round trip.
How to use it
- 1Type or paste your input.
- 2Toggle between Encode and Decode.
- 3Copy the result — it updates as you type.
Examples
- hello → aGVsbG8=
- aGVsbG8= → hello
Frequently asked questions
- What is Base64 used for?
- Base64 encodes binary or text data as ASCII so it can travel safely through systems that expect text — data URLs, email attachments, JSON payloads and HTTP headers.
- Does it handle emoji and non-English text?
- Yes. Input is treated as UTF-8 before encoding, so characters outside the basic ASCII range are preserved exactly.
- Is Base64 encryption?
- No. Base64 is encoding, not encryption — anyone can decode it. Never use it to protect secrets.
